Jesse McCartney - Bleeding Love [original version]

Leona Lewis may have made the song a hit, but believe it or not the song was actually written by One Republic frontman, Ryan Tedder, and pop star Jesse McCartney. The song was however given to Leona after Jesse's 3rd album, Departure, was postponed. I bet he wished he kept the song though, seeing as it was the best-selling single for the UK in 2001, and the song has already topped the charts in 18 countries. Now Jesse's Departure album has finally hit stores, and we finally get to hear the original version of the song that introduced Leona to the world.

It was thought that the album's first single would be a song called High Price featuring Ludacris, however, Click is the first taste of new music to leak. The song is said to be meant for the Sex and the City soundtrack, but it is not confirmed whether the track will make the final cut of either album yet.

Rihanna Bows at the top of Hot 100

Rihanna's Take a Bow made oneof the biggest leaps in history this week, 53-1, pushing Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love out of the top spot. Take a bow's 53-1 leap makes it the second highest leap to #1 in history behind Maroon 5's 64-1 leap with Makes Me Wonder last May. Coincidentally, Rihanna is also featured on the band’s “If I Never See Your Face Again” which debuted at #57 this week. Rihanna also holds the 2 of the top 3 spots for highest first week digital sales as well.

The song which was released digitally last week debuted at #1 on the Digital 100 chart with sales of 266,000 giving Rihanna the second best opening in history, behind
Mariah Carey's Touch My Body[286,000] which coincidentally broke the previous record set by Rihannas Umbrella[277,000] in June of 2007.

Take a Bow was written by
Ne-Yo and produced by Stargate, and will be one of 4 new songs(1) “Take A Bow”; 2) a cover version of Maroon 5’s “If I Never See Your Face Again” (featuring Maroon 5); 3) “Hatin’ On the Club”; and 4) “Disturbia.”) from Good Girl Gone Bad:Reloaded. Hell freezes over; Madonna compliments Mariah on Z100 and in IBN

Madonna personally squashed the so called rivalry between her and Mariah in an interview with Z100 earlier this week. During the interview Madonna was asked about her interpretation of the word legend, after Mariah took the term offensively according to one deejay. Madonna quickly tried to steer the conversation in a new direction, but not before noting that loves Mariah's new disc, E=MC2.

Madonna complimented Mariah again during an interview with IBN in New Delhi, Madonna was asked about what she thought of Mariah releasing her album in the same month. She replied by saying, "I don't really pay any attention to it, but I love her new record, 'Touch My Body’. It's good. I exercise to it everyday." However she later mentioned that she does ab works outs to Eminem because it's angry music. Mentioning Eminem could have been a low-key insult to Mariah.

I never thought I'd live to hear Madonna, who according to reports stopped Mariah from opening the Grammys in 2006, utter a nice word about Mariah. Now if only Mariah said a nice thing about Madonna, then maybe some of the rivalry between their fans will die out too.

Mariah's Lipsynching Scare on GMA

It's no secret that Mariah's had a few shaky performances for E=MC2. Especially for Touch My Body. The song itself is almost impossible to sing live due to its breathy whisper register, layered vocals, and mile a minute lyrics. Because of this, Mariah was forced to use backing tracks to help the performances flow smoother.

During this morning's Touch My Body performance on Good Morning America, Mariah had a big scare. During the "oh yeah oh yeah" intro part of the song, the first verse played instead. Then all of the backing tracks jumbled together for the rest of the first verse, before the tracks were turned off.

Mariah kept her cool though, and breezily picked up where the vocals left off, at the infamous youtube line. But it wasn't long before another glitch happened. In the bridge, they accidentally played the final "Toooouch my Body" line a full line too early, but Mariah once again played it off, glancing at the back-up singers, coyfully singing warning them not to "sing my lines".

All in all, the performance was actually one of the most exciting MC performances in a while. You can tell they were going all out for the performance as they added new dancers, a smoother routine, and an "E=MC2" intro to TMB. But I guess the backing tracks finally bit her in the butt this time. I hope she leanrs and that it doesn't happen again, because she is supposed to be "The Voice" and she doesn't need people saying she's a fraud.

Regardless of what happened, you've got to commend Mariah for pulling it off like a pro, a la Beyonce when she fell, insteadof doing a little dfance and running off the stage like Ashlee Simpson did when she faced the same backing track catastrophe at SNL so many years ago.

Despite the mix up, Mariah stayed for the remainder of the show, and she performed 4 more songs, including Bye Bye and I'm That Chick (You Like).

Touch My Body (Morales Stereo Mix)

Mariah and David Morales, who first worked together one the iconic Dreamlover Def Club Mix have joined forces once again to bring you the Morales Stereo Remix of Touch My Body. The song was supposed to be released a few weeks ago with new vocals, however, Mariah schedule forbid them from working together, forcing Morales to use original vocals for this stellar remix.

"Dreamlover" was the first Mariah song turned into a dance/house mix by Morales back in 1993. Their most recent collaboration up until now was the 2005 remix to "Say Somethin'." Below is the list of the Mariah songs that were remixed by David Morales and their peak position on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.

"Dreamlover" - #1
"Joy To The World" - #17
Fantasy - #1
"Always Be My Baby" - #6
Honey - #1
"My All" - #5
"Fly Away (Butterfly Remix)" - #13

Bye Bye Remix featuring Jay-Z

The remix to Bye Bye, which Mariah sopilled the beans about on power 105 last week has finally surfaced. The clip features a new verse from Jay-Z added in the beginning, with Mariah synching her voice with his at moments. This version is almost better than the original.

Listen to the song here.

Bye Bye Sneak Peek on TRL

Today on TRL, the host Damian announced that Mariah would be dropping by TRL to premiere the video for Bye Bye on Monday, April 28th.

He then went on to play a clip of the vid. In the clip, we see a montage of moments where Mariah is singing all alone in front of a flat black background then again in a series of flashbacks. In the first scene, she's dressed casually in jeans and a small white tank with minimal hair and make-up, sporting 2 butterflies on her belt buckle and 1 on her finger. In the flashbacks however, we see what seems to be get this... Mariah Carey as herself! or someone famous who looks a lot like MC, riding in jets, spooning with Nick Cannon, being chauffeured through the streets of London only to end up at some premiere with fans and fotogs snapping away and asking for autographs.

Not much was revealed about the plot of the video, but so far we already know that Nick Cannon is starring in both Bye Bye and it's part companion video, Love which will be her third single from E=MC2.

Mariah will be stopping by both Mtv's TRL and BET's 106 and Park to drop off the full version of the video on Monday, April 28th.

Songs You Should Get to Know; Algebra Blessett - At This Time

The second song in this series is by an unknown artist that I just happened to stumble upon on iTunes. Her album was only $6, so I decided to buy it just off the price alone. Her voice intrigues me, reminds me of someone but I can't really put my finger on it. I suggest buying the whole album off of iTunes for $6 like I did, but even if you don't, take a listen to At This Time. It's a gorgeous song with some great lyrics - My arms brag to each other about how you feel...

I couldn't find the studio version, but the live version more than does the song justice. The song just has a nice overall feel to it, and tons of replay value. I've probably listened to the song over a hundred times, it's just that serene and addictive to me. Definitely a great song if you just want to chill out, or if you have that special friend that you want to spend some time with. Algebra Blessett has great potential, which is heard all over this song, and her CD as well. Get to know Algebra Blessett as an artist, or at least her great song At This Time.

Love Story [mtv Acoustic]

Download Audio

A video from Mtv Asia featuring Mariah Carey performing her third single from E=MC2, Love Story, has just surfaced. Mariah's voice sounds incredible, and the track is very reminiscent of some of her Unplugged performances from 15 years ago. 18 years into her career, and Mariah still has one of the most powerful voices in the industry.

Songs You Should Get to Know; Erykah Badu - Green Eyes

This is going to be a series of songs, whether they are underground, unknown, b-sides, album cuts, or even just old songs, that you should get to know and love. Usually, the song will come with a link to listen to it, along with a review of the song, so you can get a feel for it before you listen to it.

The first song on my list is one from one of the most innovative artists of our time - Erykah Badu. There's a plethora of songs to pick from that most people don't know, but my favorite song from her - and one of my favorites of all time - is Green Eyes.

Link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=eZsAdhZMS30

Green Eyes is a magnificent slice of heaven, to put it simply. Ending at a little over 10 minutes, don't let the length of the song fool you. The feel of the song changes up about 4 times throughout, and it never gets old. I've listened to this song countless times, and it's still one of my favorites. Her voice sounds gorgeous, and the lyrics really make you think. Many of us have been in a jealous situation where we don't want to admit it, and this is exactly what she focuses on. She bares her soul on this track, leaving nothing to the imagination and even if you've never been in this type of situation, you'll feel like you have after listening to it.

Get to know this song, you won't regret it! Hope you enjoy, and leave some comments on how you feel about the song!
